Live Transfer: getting the right person onto the call

Send a live caller to the teammate who can help, with context before they join.

  • Where Settings › Live Transfer

The owner may be in the field. The estimator may be between jobs. Live Transfer lets the AI try the teammate's phone while the customer remains on the original call. It is useful when a caller needs a particular person who is not watching Tradesly.

1 What to expect

The customer is told that your business is trying to reach a teammate, and the saved phone number rings. The teammate follows the prompt they hear and, when the connection completes, continues with the customer. Test both sides of that experience on numbers you control before relying on it with a live caller.

Use a number that the intended teammate can answer reliably. They should listen to the briefing before accepting and move somewhere safe before speaking if they are driving or working around equipment.

2 If nobody picks up

If the teammate cannot take the call, reopen the live conversation and read the status shown in Office. Use Take Over when you are ready to speak, or arrange a named follow-up. Do not assume the customer heard a particular fallback message unless you confirmed it during the call.

3 Choosing who the AI reaches

In Settings, Live Transfer holds the Teammate's phone number. Saving a valid number turns the setting On. The readiness line should read Can place calls · Ready. Live Transfer supports US phone numbers.

Call the saved number after setup and make sure the right person answers. Update it when responsibilities change, and do not use a shared line that nobody owns.

4 The steps

1

Add the teammate's number.

Open Settings, choose Live Transfer, and enter the destination in Teammate's phone number. Save the change and confirm the setting is On.

2

Check that transfer is ready.

The readiness line should say Can place calls · Ready. If it does not, confirm the number and save again before testing.

3

Start a test transfer.

Place a test call and ask for the teammate. You can also open a live call, choose Call actions, and select Transfer.

4

Accept the test call.

Answer the teammate's phone and follow the prompt you hear. Confirm that the correct business and caller context is available and that both people can hear each other after the connection completes.

5

Recover when nobody accepts.

Choose Cancel if the transfer is no longer wanted while it is ringing. If the teammate cannot accept it, return to the live call and use Take Over or arrange a follow-up.

5 Live Transfer or Take Over?

If the call needs you and you are already watching it, Take Over is the direct choice. If it needs the teammate whose number is saved in Live Transfer, use the transfer. For a transfer to anyone else, confirm the destination and follow your office's normal handoff process.
