Simulated customers: your AI meets a stranger

Use a practice conversation to review what a customer would experience before live use.

  • Where AI Team › Coach

It is easy to test your AI with the exact words you used while coaching it. That can confirm the obvious path, but it may not show whether the instruction is clear when a conversation takes an unexpected turn.

A simulated-customer rehearsal gives you another practice conversation to review. Its purpose is simple: let you see how your teammate responds in a customer-style exchange before you rely on that response in day-to-day work. You see the conversation and can decide whether the answer sounds right for your business.

1 What this rehearsal is good for

Use a rehearsal when you want a fresh check on a recent change, such as a new greeting, a different answer to a price question, or a rule about which jobs you accept. It is also useful when your own test keeps following the same comfortable path.

Focus on the customer-facing result instead of treating every sentence as equally important. Ask:

  • Did the teammate understand the main request?
  • Did it use the correct business facts?
  • Did it make a promise you would not make?
  • Did it offer a sensible next step?

One rehearsal cannot cover every caller or guarantee how every future conversation will go. It is a practical signal that helps you find the next thing worth improving.

2 The steps

1

Choose one behavior to check.

Write down the result you expect in a single sentence. A narrow goal makes the conversation easier to review.

2

Open the teammate's test workspace.

From Your AI Team, press Coach on the teammate whose customer-facing behavior you want to review.

3

Run the available rehearsal.

Keep the goal beside you while the practice conversation runs. Do not change the coaching halfway through the exchange.

4

Review the customer-facing exchange.

Find the first response that did not match your intended outcome. Copy the wording or summarize the moment so your next instruction is specific.

5

Note the follow-up.

Save the customer wording and the response that needs attention. Use that example when you decide whether the teammate needs a change.

3 What to look for in the result

A useful result should help you answer three questions: what happened, where the conversation drifted, and what you want instead. If the exchange looks good, note what you liked so you do not accidentally coach it away during a later change.

If the result is unclear or incomplete, do not treat it as proof that the behavior passed. Record the situation you still need to verify. You can play the customer yourself with Run a rehearsal by chat and ask the exact question you care about.

4 Confirm important behavior by phone

Text is good for reviewing words. A phone call tells you whether the pace, tone, and transitions sound natural. Use the test controls shown for that teammate and call only your own number. Keep the check focused on the customer situation you just reviewed.

A test call can create real activity. Use your own details and clean up any booking or text the call creates.
