Your data is yours — including the day you leave
Use available exports, ask about additional records, and keep control of your business data.
There's a fair test for any software company, and you should apply it before you sign anything — including with us: what happens on the day you want to leave? A company confident in its product answers that question in writing. Here's ours.
1 Your business data remains yours
Tradesly treats the business data associated with your account as your data. Depending on the feature, your plan, retention requirements, and the format available, that may include categories such as:
- Customer records — the contact and service information maintained for your work.
- Conversations — available calls, recordings, transcripts, and text threads.
- Bookings and job history — appointment and work records retained for the account.
- The business knowledge you taught your AI — your services, policies, and pricing rules, written in your words.
- Consent and do-not-call records — the visible permission and restriction history maintained in Tradesly.
The available export method and scope can differ by record type. Tradesly may need to verify the requester, protect other people's information, honor legal retention or deletion requirements, and agree on a practical format before releasing a broader set.
2 What to do next
Export what the Dashboard is showing.
Pick your timeframe first, then Export CSV — that's the export you can run yourself. See The Dashboard: what happened while you were away.
Download a call worth keeping.
On the ticket, the transcript menu offers Download Transcript and Download Recording.
Ask about other records.
Tell the Tradesly team which business records and date range you need. We will confirm what is available, how identity will be verified, the delivery format, and any timing or account-specific requirements. Getting help has the approved ways to reach us.
Ask early if you're moving your number.
Numbers are portable, but a move is arranged between people and carriers rather than switched on, so start the conversation before you need it done.
3 You can take it with you
Some records have direct, self-service exports. The Dashboard exports the report currently shown, and an eligible call may offer transcript or recording downloads from its ticket. Check the selected company and date range before saving anything.
For other records, ask the Tradesly team about the scope you need. We will explain the available data, format, verification steps, expected timing, and any limitations that apply to your account. The goal is a useful, secure handoff—not a vague promise that every record can always be delivered in one universal package.
4 Your numbers go with you
The phone number your customers know is part of your business, not part of our product. Phone numbers are portable, and yours can move with you if you leave — the number on your trucks and your fridge magnets keeps working.
5 Why the door isn't locked
Our stance is simple: earn the renewal, don't lock the door. A locked door changes a company's incentives — it starts defending the exit instead of improving the product. We'd rather be judged every month on whether your phone got answered and your jobs got booked. If we stop deserving your business, keeping your data hostage shouldn't be what saves us.
You do not have to be leaving to understand your options. Try the available exports while the account is active, and ask early about any broader operational or retention need so there is time to confirm scope and format.
6 One honest note for the road
If you ever do take your list elsewhere, take your opt-out and do-not-call records with it — ask for them by name along with the rest. “Stop” means stop no matter what software you're using, and arriving at a new system without those records is how good businesses end up texting people who already said no. See Consent and opt-outs for how those records work while you're here.
