Service areas

Tell the AI where you work, so it never books a job you can't reach.

Few things burn a morning like a job booked forty minutes past where your trucks actually go. Somebody has to call the customer back, apologize, and cancel work you never should have taken — and that customer tells the story to their neighbors.

The Service Areas section exists so that call never happens. Tell Tradesly where you work, and the AI won't book outside it.

1 The rule, not the click

Your service areas aren't a note the AI tries to remember — they're a boundary it books against. When a caller wants work done, where the job is gets checked against the areas you've set before anything lands on your schedule. Inside your areas, the booking goes ahead like any other. Outside them, the AI doesn't offer your schedule, so there's nothing for you to cancel later.

That check happens on every front door at once: a call, a text, a form fill from your website. There's no side channel where an out-of-area job can sneak onto the board.

2 The steps

1

Open Service Areas in Settings.

You see the regions you cover today, one per row — exactly the map the AI is booking against right now.

2

Press Add Region.

A modal opens. This section doesn't use the usual read-first card, so there's no Edit to press first at the top of the page.

3

Enter the ZIP codes that region covers, separated by commas.

Paste them straight from wherever you keep them — that's the format the box expects.

4

Press Save.

The region joins the list and takes effect immediately, on the phone and in every text thread at once.

5

Change a region later from its own row.

Each row has its own Edit; removing one asks “Remove region?” before anything goes.

Set it to where you'll actually send a truck, not where you'd theoretically go for the right price. If you take big jobs outside your usual range case by case, keep the areas honest and let those exceptions come to you as messages a person decides on — that's a judgment call, and judgment calls belong with people.

3 When the business grows

Your service area is one of the settings most worth revisiting. New crew, new territory: change it here once, and it's true on the phone and in every text thread at the same moment. There's no second list somewhere going stale.

4 What it never does

  • It never quietly books outside your areas.

No “the caller sounded nice” and no exceptions the AI grants itself.

  • It doesn't decide where your business is based.

Your address and story live in your business profile — this section is only about where you take work.

  • It isn't a customer filter.

Existing customers, past conversations and your records are untouched by area changes; this only governs where new work can be booked.
